Originally built in 1904 by homesteaders Isaac and Eva Jatko with the help of noted log builder Nels Juso and his sons, Stella (yes, Stella!) is unique and beautiful.

This rare, historic two-story home is a hand-hewn log homestead cabin with slate floors, gorgeous old-growth log walls and beamed ceilings in a beautiful setting. We’ve included as many modern and luxurious details as we could think of without taking away from Stella’s charm. And she is a charming gal…

Set in a secluded, pastoral location yet close to all things fun, active and adventurous. Want to just relax? It’s all possible here!

Close to Deadwood, Lead, Nemo and easy driving to Sturgis, Rapid City, Hill City and Custer.

Nearby are ATV/UTV/snowmobile trails, mountain biking & hiking trails, plus golfing, water recreation and lakes.

Wow! Lesley's cabin does not disappoint! What a beautiful cabin surrounded by nature. Cooking enthusiasts will love the well supplied kitchen. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed to do so. No details were forgotten from well-appointed decorative touches to heated bathroom floors and comfy beds and pillows. Close to the local towns that have so much to do or stay in cause there are movies, games, books, and puzzles. Super family-friendly, and Lesley provided essentials for having small children or babies. We had a very special holiday thanks to Lesley, who was always available and very responsive when we had questions or needed help.

It was an EPIC storm – Stella had quite the first Christmas holiday!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience requires one. We were supposed to arrive the day before Christmas, when a once in a generation blizzard was crossing the US, and Lesley suggested and allowed us to shift our dates. Then on Christmas Eve after driving through the blizzard from MN to SD we got within a couple of miles of the property, and I got us on the wrong forest road and proceeded to bury my 4x4 in the snow. When I called Lesley rather than just pointing me to the closest tow truck service she volunteered to come pull us out…on Christmas Eve…setting aside her own plans for the evening to come and help us. But this is not all, the place is amazing. One example, I always bring my own chef knife because owners never have decent, sharp knives. Lesley’s place was the exact opposite, fully equipped for someone that loves to cook. This is hands down the best place I have rented and the owners are the best hosts I have ever worked with…period!
